Всвоєй автобіографії «Життя» він пише, що коли йому було п’ять років, онувідел ящірку, що пустує у вогні. Він ськазалоб цьому батьку, а той повідомив його, що це биласаламандра. А потім побив сина, щоб тотзапомніл це бачення, яке людям такредко доводиться бачити.(дивний метод, як мені здається)Я ось частенько дивлюся вогонь в надії побачити Саламандру. Але етововсе не означає, що я якщо я її побачу, томеня треба побити. Я і без цього запам’ятала бието на все життя.
